Following the successes of our Dubai and Abu Dhabi kart circuit designs, where a modular approach permits the operator multiple simultaneous use, the Iceland MotoPark kart circuit design by Apex develops the idea further; core to the design is the need to create a centre for karting in Iceland which provides multiple and varied configurations, allowing for public interest and competition at one common destination. The kart circuit design incorporates ideas from Icelandic racing driver Viktor Jensen. The full 1.2km circuit will be homologated for World Championship kart events by the CiK and the 600m leisure circuit, which forms part of the main circuit, will be interesting, fun and challenging for novice and accomplished racers alike. The 600m club section, meanwhile, will be more challenging, with significant gradient change, corner cambers and complex corner radii, thereby ensuring simultaneous club and leisure/corporate use. The track will be built into the side of a natural escarpment and will maximise gradient and grade change within the CiK regulations, with a view over to the main FIA track for all visitors.
The kart centre building will provide the home for kart leisure use and racing in Iceland, with a specialist shop, garaging for private owners, corporate storage, corporate/leisure karting, comfortable changing and washing facilities and, of course, restaurants and café areas and all facilities required to host an international world championship event.
