Apex was commissioned in December 2005 to undertake vision and master planning for a 370Ha mixed use development outside Keflavik with motorsport as the core attraction: A 4.2km FIA category 2 race circuit integrated with an FIA International standard ¼ mile drag strip and a full 1.2km CiK international standard kart circuit all enclosed by a retail, leisure, sport and residential development of €130 million capital investment and associated with a considerable technology park, university and geothermal research institute commences construction in September 2006. Apex brought in WS Atkins, HOK Sport London, and through them, Lovejoy and HOK International as co-consultants. The subsequent global economic downturn has delayed the development of this project.
