Commissioned in 2004 by Offsets, an Abu Dhabi government investment body, Clive Bowen designed the CIK-FIA approved Category B 1.2km kart circuit and an FIM sanctioned motocross circuit as part of a combined leisure, education and resort complex around the Abu Dhabi International Shooting Club. Construction commenced in September 2006 and the circuit opened in 2010 to wide local acclaim.
