Iceland MotoPark project reaches key milestone

The Iceland MotoPark management and design team are delighted to announce that the Iceland MotoPark project reached a key milestone in November 2007;
Phase One of the Iceland MotoPark has been developed to bring commercial viability to the motorsport components of the project site. The 55 hectare Phase One area has now been awarded detailed planning consent and land registration by Icelandic authorities; the first land sales of the 22 hectare commercial zone have been concluded, with over 50% of all commercial land sold ‘off-plan’, with contracts pending.
The Iceland MotoPark team are delighted to have achieved this goal and now continue to work on developing the Iceland MotoPark site further; Vilhjalmur Vilhjalmsson, Managing Director Iceland MotoPark, acknowledged the support provided by Clive Bowen and the Apex Circuit Design team who he said; “have done a fantastic job of bringing the Iceland MotoPark project to reality with us by providing strategic, technical, marketing and legal documentation throughout the planning process; we couldn’t have done this alone”
Clive Bowen, Managing Director of Apex Circuit Design Ltd. added; “we have now demonstrated the model for adding value to land around race destinations in the most extreme and opposite conditions. The Dubai Autodrome project site will ultimately exceed US$2 billion in value and was created from bare desert. The Iceland MotoPark, on Icelandic land in the mid Atlantic demonstrates a similarly successful commercial model. We are proud to have been associated with both, among our many other motorsport projects”
The Iceland MotoPark site is under construction and access roads for all commercial plots are now sufficiently developed for their new owners to access each plot.
Apex continues to support the project with technical management of roads, driving school and kart circuit infrastructure development. Apex will resume the detailed design process for the main FIA compliant circuit in early 2008. Details on the driving school, which has been developed in conjunction with FDM in Denmark, will be issued for release shortly.
