Abu Dhabi International Kart Circuit nearing completion at ADISC

Construction of the FIA-CiK Category A kart circuit at the Abu Dhabi International Shooting Club (ADISC) in the UAE, designed by Apex Circuit Design Ltd. (‘Apex’) began in January 2007 and is now nearing completion, with an opening date scheduled for Summer 2008.

Clive Bowen, Managing Director of Apex, and Ben Willshire, Senior Design Engineer, were on site this week in Abu Dhabi to inspect the latest track works. The Apex team noted the high quality of construction and observed that the circuit will be recognised as one of the worlds finest karting circuits.

The circuit is part of a leisure, education and resort complex developed around the new international shooting club. The project design is by Atkins Global. The site will include a hotel, an international multi-discipline shooting venue, a paintball centre, equestrian centre and an FIM sanctioned motocross track, also designed by Apex. These leisure facilities will continue to boost the fast growing leisure and motorsport culture in the UAE.

The kart circuit will provide a challenge to kart drivers of all abilities and has multiple track permutations all on undulating ground to maximise the entertainment for drivers and viewing for spectators. The facility is designed to host world class karting events, has a full paddock with sheltered pit garages, a luxurious club house offering viewing, shopping, entertainment, food and beverage facilities.

Apex have been working closely with the operations team headed by Carlos King, owner and operator of the Lydd International Raceway in the UK, and are confident that all systems will be in place to host major International karting events.

Clive Bowen will be making further site inspections prior to CiK-FIA homologation due to take place in early 2008 before the opening date for the new circuit is formally announced.
