Construction starts at ADISC International Kart Circuit, Abu Dhabi

Construction of the kart circuit at the Abu Dhabi International Shooting Club (ADISC) in the UAE, designed by Apex Circuit Design Ltd. (‘Apex’) is now underway. The circuit, a FIA-CiK 1.2km approved Category ‘A’, kart track will be part of a leisure, education and resort complex developed around the international shooting club, all designed by Atkins Global. The site will include a hotel, an international multi-discipline shooting venue, a paintball centre, equestrian centre, other leisure facilities and a FIM sanctioned motocross track, also designed by Apex.
Apex is working as part of the Atkins office in Abu Dhabi on this project and the 16 corner kart track also contains a link for world-class SuperMoto racing. The circuit provides a challenge for kart drivers of all abilities and will allow for multiple track permutations all on undulating ground to maximise the entertainment for drivers and viewing for spectators. The facility is designed to host world class karting events, has a full paddock with sheltered pit garages, a luxurious club house offering viewing, shopping, entertainment, food and beverage facilities.
Clive Bowen will be inspecting ground works in February 2007 to ensure design conformance prior to CiK-FIA homologation approval later in the year. The facility is scheduled for commissioning in October 2007. He today said: ‘the healthy growth of motorsport in the Middle East has been impressive and we’re delighted to see our second international venue under construction in the region; the ADISC project impresses me as it takes the notion of a leisure development further than ever. Our design for this place is focused on fun, comfort, ease of use and entertainment, whilst conforming to the needs of a World-Class race destination’.
