Nutts Corner extension opens
Apex are pleased to announce that the extension works to the Nutts Corner circuit, in Northern Ireland, have been successfully completed and the new circuit has already hosted its first race.
Apex were approached by the Eastwood family, who have made several improvements to the circuit in recent years, to design an “exciting circuit extension that drivers will enjoy driving and creates overtaking”. The team at Apex put forward sketch proposals to Nutts Corner and reviewed the drawings with Senior Rotax Super 1 driver, Charlie Eastwood, and the rest of the Nutts Corner operations team consisting of John, Suzanne, Raymie and Johnny Eastwood before agreeing on a final layout. The design brief was to also improve the flexibility of the venue operation by providing a design which would allow more than one circuit to be operated at once and also includes a small loop for operating bambino kart lessons.
The works included resurfacing of the existing pitlane and paddock, an upgrade of the drainage and electrical system and the laying of new circuit asphalt to complete the extension. The circuit continues to host MSA sanctioned race meetings and has proven to be a popular revision with the drivers and Nutts Corner team.
