In August 2007, Apex were commissioned by HOK Sport Kansas City to undertake a master planning exercise for the ‘Dale Earndhart Jr Speedway’ development in Mobile, Alabama. The site will comprise a variety of motorsport activities and aims to deliver the world’s best mix of motorsport courses. The Alabama Motorsports Park will boast three racing venues; an FIA approved 3.4mile (5.5km) road course incorporating a 0.7mile (1.1km) “race city” concept which sees a section of the race course routed through an urban area, a dirt racing oval, and a FIA-CiK approved 0.75mile (1.2km) kart circuit in addition to the Nascar oval.
The course will provide an opportunity for world class racing and for corporate activities to take place, allowing a wide selection of people to enjoy the facility. It is scheduled to be operational by 2010.
