Ben Willshire
Ben Willshire was destined to be professionally associated with motorsport: he was born into a family with 2 previous generations of racing professionals.
Having graduated from the University of Hertfordshire with a 1st Class Honours degree in Motorsport Technology and Management, Ben joined the company in 2006 and has progressed into the position of Design Manager. He is also a director and shareholder in the company’s satellite; Apex Motorsport Marketing.
Prior to joining Apex, Ben was employed as a race engineer for a number of small race teams including a Ferrari specialist and a World Superside (Sidecar) Championship outfit. He also gained valuable design experience at a successful motorsport engine design company.
Ben now plays an important management role in all of Apex’s new projects and provides direct client liaison with some at a commercial, project management and technical design level.
As part of the team led by Clive Bowen, Ben has assumed the key role of design engineer on a number of projects including the Iceland MotoPark kart circuit, the Bath and West showground 4x4 course (UK), the Eurasia Autodrome Domodedovo (Moscow), and the revised circuit master plan for Eastern Creek International Raceway (Sydney), together with several other projects bound by confidentiality.
Ben has also worked on designs for the Abu Dhabi International Kart Circuit (UAE), Alabama Motorsports Park (USA), Silverstone Pitlane and Paddock redevelopment (UK) and he has been involved with several tender documents for a number of new race circuits around the world.
Keen on racquet sports, photography and keeping fit, Ben can also be seen at race circuits around the UK competing in the MSA British Superkart championship and other competitive kart race categories.
